About you

You have experience designing, building and supporting networking in a data center setting. You understand and have participated in maintaining, and/or implementing, various network topologies and architectures. You have a security mindset, continually maintaining environments to address new vulnerabilities and to keep all devices/systems current. You understand the principles for creating a network infrastructure that is scalable, fault tolerant, HA and secure, based on established industry and/or government security principles and guidelines.

You have a curiosity to understand the products and environment that the network supports, and understand how your decisions affect the business. You can engage with co-workers and business owners, understand requirements and transform them into networking solutions that achieve the requirements. 

Responsibilities

As a network engineer, you will be contributing to the overall technical planning, designing, operations and maintenance of our network infrastructure environments. You will be responsible for supporting the company’s SaaS products. The network engineer will be responsible for the administration, installation, implementation, maintenance and support of network infrastructure.

You will also:

  • Support and maintain network/SAN infrastructure environments supporting virtual environments, storage, Linux servers and cloud
  • Perform upgrades and patch management while maintaining service levels
  • Work with operations team members, QA, and development teams including Linux system administrators, infrastructure engineers, network engineers and DBAs to ensure best-of-class infrastructure functionality and supportability
  • Work with management to develop and document methodologies for network/SAN capacity planning and resource monitoring to meet future infrastructure needs
  • Produce and maintain documentation
  • Anticipate and proactively handle issues before they turn into problems
  • Share information with peers and escalate issues to management when appropriate
  • Evaluate the environment and recommend network solutions to improve the stability and supportability of the infrastructure
  • Work with external vendors, participate in evaluating their offerings and finding the right solutions for improving the network infrastructure
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to monitoring system alarms, internal escalations, partner operation escalations and client calls on Sev-1/Sev-2 trouble tickets
  • Maintain highly secure network environments: defense, analysis of threats, intrusion detection, threat response

Technical knowledge and skills required

  • 7+ years professional network engineering experience
  • Experience using the following protocols, techniques, and technologies: VLANs, OSPF or EIRGP, BGP, ARP, NAT, IPv4/6, TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSH, TFTP, Trunking, port-channel, LACP
  • Working knowledge of security best practices and intrusion detection
  • Experience with network tuning, packet capture analysis, security, IPSEC, TLS, SSL, PKI, IKE v1, IKE v2, tunnels, encapsulation, cipher suites
  • Experience administering and configuring firewalls, load balancers and Cisco technologies in enterprise data center environments
  • Experience managing networks in a data center setting
  • Experience with client VPNs and site-to-site VPN
  • Experience configuring and maintaining monitoring for network infrastructures
  • Experience troubleshooting Layer 4-7 networking problems such as TCP window size, buffer sizes, idle timeouts
  • Experience utilizing analysis tools such as WireShark/TCP dump

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining highly available, fault tolerant, highly secure networking infrastructure environments available 24x7x365 and 99.99% or higher uptime
  • Experience implementing and maintaining WAN technologies including MPLS, CoS/QoS, BGP/metrics, and routing tables
  • Experience supporting 99.99%+ uptime for 24x7x365 available business critical customer facing infrastructure
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Experience with CiscoWorks or similar network management software
  • Experience with web application firewalls
